Photo exhibition at a private traditional-style home
–
Fixtures were designed and produced for a photography exhibition held at a private traditional Japanese-style home in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture. The traditional home had a large dirt foyer from which a 30 cm rise led to the entryway and back room. Therefore, we thought it might be possible to incorporate the layout of the foyer to the entryway as an approach for the design of the fixtures to display the photographs. Three fixtures were created, changing the height of the display stands 30 cm apart and using textures such as solid wood to symbolize the dirt foyer and white fabric to symbolize the entryway. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and the declaration of a state of emergency, the exhibition was cancelled. However, we decided to exhibit the photographs using the fixtures in a quiet park in Tokyo for a short period of time where parents, children, and couples on walks were able to appreciate them. Although the exhibition was not held in the original location, we were able to share the works with others and spend a lovely afternoon together.
